Robust Functionality Found in Growth and Variety of New Drupal Modules

Drupal has been getting a lot of buzz this year. Thanks to the release of Drupal 7 in January, 2011 and the exponential growth of Drupal websites, Drupal has continued to build upon its reputation as a useable, functional content management system (CMS).

Version 7 offers incremental improvement upon Drupal 6. And with a growing community of developers, it’s easy to see why it’s so popular. Of course, it takes a lot more than buzz to make a great CMS. A solid, viable CMS is the result of years of development and refinement.

So how does Drupal stack up? In the infograph below, we’ve compiled the last five years of development in new Drupal modules. With this graph, you can chart Drupal’s momentum in terms of how functionality has expanded each year. Currently, there are over 15,000 modules that represent an increasingly robust feature set.

It’s getting easier and easier for Drupal developers to say “there’s an app for that,” and it’s true across a broad range of categories. As you’ll see below, it’s the diversity of functionality that makes Drupal a truly viable choice for nearly any business or organization.
